Get an Acting Agent - London Actors Workshop

How to get an Acting Agent

How do I get an acting agent? This is probably the question we get asked the most often at the London Actors Workshop. The truth is, no sugarcoating here, not easily! But don’t despair. That’s not us saying it is impossible. In fact, it is very possible I – the course director, have an acting agent, and numerous LAW alumni are signed and have been signed as a direct result of attending one of our courses. So is that the answer – attend a London Actors Workshop Course? Well, I’d love to say an emphatic yes to that question. However, that would be a disservice to you as an aspiring actor. The truth is, do you need to study at least a part-time acting course like our 12-week workshop? But you need more…

So what is more? Well, you need passion, determination, a willingness to get out there and perform – maybe for free, network, keep attending acting classes, record a showreel and perhaps most importantly develop a robust attitude to rejection – as you’re going to get a lot of it!

So, where to start? Well, in our opinion, whether you are a beginner, an adult or a returning actor who has taken a career break, we’d recommend booking some type of part-time acting course. You need to learn the fundamentals of acting, kindle or rekindle your passion for performing, and start the process of networking and getting yourself out there. This leads us to the second most asked question: should I do a part-time course or apply for a full-time acting school such as RADA. Well, there are a few things to consider here. Getting into a quality acting school is not easy; it’s expensive, it’s very competitive, and it’s a bit dog-eat-dog. That said, if you successfully complete 3 years, you will likely secure an agent due to your experience and training. However, you still may not make it as an actor, as you still need the attributes we outlined earlier.

Therefore, in summary, get the ball rolling with a part-time acting course that won’t break the bank. Pick a course that has a reputation for being a welcoming, safe, and professional space so you can build your confidence and belief at your pace with qualified acting tutors. Maybe look at an acting class that includes recording a showreel. Above all, pick a course or class that gets you energised to perform and start your acting journey.
