I love this course. I am a trained actress and I honestly think this course is one of the best any actor will find regardless of their ability or experience. One of the things that has impressed me is the emphasis on building a strong support system within and outside of the class. Everyone supports and learns from one another. The online sessions midweek and the WhatsApp group help to strengthen the bond. This is by far and away the most diverse group of actors I’ve ever worked with spanning across so many backgrounds, life experiences and age ranges! Itâs wonderful.â [Naomi, 2021]

Advanced Course Intro by Jon Sidgwick (Course Director)
Saturdays in STUDIO (10.30am â 5.30pm, one hour lunch)
Tuesdays via ZOOM (7 â 8.30pm)

Start date: Saturday 21st Feb 2026
âCan we get serious now?â â Tom Hanks, Sully: Miracle on the Hudson (2016)
Week 1 – Michael Chekhov Acting Technique
Saturday 21st February: Ariella Eshed
Ariella has extensive experience as a director and has worked at Lyric Hammersmith, Soho Theatre, Hampstead Theatre, Kingâs Head, and the Union Theatre, to name but a few. In 2005 she set up her own theatre company âTik-sho-retâ, Hebrew for âCommunicationâ.
In this class weâll work on âMichael Chekhov Techniquesâ and focus on Archetypes (Trickster, Child, Hero, etc), Tensions (1-10) and, if time, Elements (Earth, Wind, Fire, Water).
You’ll prepare a short, maybe ten lines, monologue of your choosing from a Classical text (e.g. Shakespeare, Jacobean, Greek Drama) and work with this text in the Studio.
This coaching from Ariella is incredible for unlocking your creativity and âbuilding a characterâ.
Tuesday 24th February: ZOOM 7pm â 8.30pm
Weekly Business of Acting Session, Self Tape Exercise, Showreels, Industry related matters & more
Week 2 – Developing your On-Screen Craft
Saturday 28th February: Daniel Dresner
An Actor and Coach trained at The Lee Strasberg Institute in New York, Daniel has a strong, no-nonsense approach to acting on Screen and as well as being an accomplished actor/tutor/director. He is also a âlife coachâ helping actors develop within our overcrowded industry.
In Part One you’ll play out a detailed, private moment exercise (sent to you in advance) on Camera and watch with feedback. In Part Two you and your scene partner will play out a duologue on Camera (sent to you the week before – you’ll be expected to totally off book!), again with watch back and feeedback. With intense yet relaxed focus you’ll dive deep into the charactersâ thought process. This is detailed work so please learn the scripts!Â
Tuesday 3rd March: ZOOM 7pm â 8.30pm
Weekly Business of Acting Session: Each week you’ll be sent a short text to Self Tape, based on TV/Film scripts (please send to LAW by Monday evening). We’ll view these and with feedback. In addition we’ll discuss Industry related matters, help to polish your Online presence, Social Media & more – anything you wish to look at to further your Acting Career!
Week 3 – Character Acting & Improv Acting
Saturday 7th March: Christie Peto – Daring Improv and Character choices
Christie is a graduate of Drama Studio London and directs regularly with The Dangerosity Theatre Group, a leading actor development company for Spotlight registered Actors.. Her self-penned solo show âThreeâ is playing on the London Fringe Circuit.
Youâll work with some fascinating Improv tools, games & exercises, possibly new to you but all tried and tested through Dangerosity. While improvising with Script, you’ll learn to stay open, transmit, receive, make fresh, daring character choices and push your boundaries – an exciting and energising class, not for the nervous! Youâll be cast with a different scene partner form the previous week.
Tuesday 10th March: ZOOM 7pm â 8.30pm
Weekly Business of Acting Session, Self Tape Exercise, Showreels, Industry related matters & more
Week 4 – Character Development for Showreel
Saturday 14th March: Sioned Jones – Delving into Character/Showreel Prep
Sioned is an actor/director and has worked extensively in British Theatre with numerous TV creditsÂ
With your Showreel filming just a week away we’ll send you a prep sheet with 101 Questions to help you create an in-deepth backstory for your character and to analyse the scenes. After a vocal and physical warm up weâll ‘hot seat’ interview you on Camera & in Character – this can actually be quite scary but it is great fun and incredibly revealing – a terrific acting exercise! We then move on to a thorough rehearsal and mock filming of your scenes to discover as much as we can in advance of the following weekâs Showreel filming.
(In Week 1, Jon will pair you up with a scene partner and over the next 2 weeks you’ll find a good scene together for your Showreel – with input from Jon and Sushant where needed).
Tuesday 17th March: ZOOM 7pm â 8.30pm
Weekly Business of Acting Session, Self Tape Exercise, Showreels, Industry related matters & more
Week 5 – Act and Film Showreel Scene
A 2-3 hour slot on either Saturday 21st March OR Sunday 22nd March: Jon Sidgwick & Sushant Nair
Our filming location is in Clapham Junction and can easily accommodate many scene settings (kitchen, bathroom, balcony, backstreet, park, lounge, office, interrogation room, doctor’s surgery). We spend up to two and a half hours filming each Showreel – plenty of time for multiple takes and full coverage (establishing wide shots, two shots, close ups, over the shoulders).
Jon is an actor of 20 years experience (Coronation Street, Eastenders, Hollyoaks, numerous stage credits inc. The Mousetrap, Steven Berkoffâs Oedipus & Messiah) and many feature and short films. Building on the previous week’s prep, he’ll rehearse and direct the Showreel scenes with you.
Sushant is an actor, writer, videographer, film-maker and editor. He works closely with Jon on scripts/casting and will film and edit the Show Reel scenes. We use only professional kit, cameras, lighting and Sushant will spend several hours editing each scene.
Tuesday 24th March: ZOOM 7pm â 8.30pm
Weekly Business of Acting Session, FINAL ROUND UP, Self Tape Exercise, Showreels, Industry related matters & more
