Jonathan Sidgwick – Actor / Course Director

Jon is dedicated both to helping LAW Actors develop their craft and his own Acting career.

Originally from North Yorkshire, Jon studied French & German at Keele University then back-packed around the world and spent 4 years in Tokyo teaching English.

After graduating from LAMDA in 2000 he realised his childhood dream role of ‘Heathcliff’ in a touring production of WUTHERING HEIGHTS.

On Television, Jon has appeared in BBC’s Eastenders, Father Brown, ITV’s Coronation Street and Channel 4’s Hollyoaks.

He was thrilled that the film WHAT DOES YOUR DADDY DO? (Lead Role and a true ‘labour of love’ to play) was shortlisted from 1100 to play at the Venice International Film Festival.

Jon has been cast several times by Steven Berkoff, most notably as Luke in MESSIAH at The Old Vic and in OEDIPUS at the Edinburgh Fringe and the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina.

In order to play the role of  ‘Jean’ in MISS JULIE, he adapted and produced the play in a version set at the end of WW1 and enjoyed strong reviews at the King’s Head Theatre.

His debut Solo Show, Franz Kafka’s THE HUNGER ARTIST, thrilled critics and audiences alike in its London run in 2024 and is preparing to tour.  ‘Five Stars! A stripped back, vulnerable, and gripping delivery of The Hunger Artist; an absolute must see!’

Paul Bibb directed Jon in MY ONLY RELATIVE (Best Feature Film, Hollywood Best Independent Feature Film Awards) and they will work together again soon in FESTIVAL HEIST.

Other theatre includes David Edgar’s PENTECOST, ‘John Proctor’ in THE CRUCIBLE and a fulfilling year in the No1 Tour of Agatha Christie classic THE MOUSETRAP as the enigmatic ‘Paravicini’.

Film credits include leads in MY MOTHER’S FORREST (for which Jon had to speak entirely in Lithuanian), CARGO, THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD;  indie horror-flicks HELLBREEDER and THE WITCHES HAMMER and several shorts.
